Before Facilitated Communication.

Through years of practice in school and home Brady has become a very proficient typer. In the sense he can type the title of his favorite video in Youtube or he can navigate around Pro Lo Quo (a communication app that helps nonverbal people to communicate. This app is very structured where it has everything categorized, ie a folder called clothes, food, toys... they utilize PECS (pictures) to answer questions at school.

As wonderful as that is, it never scratched the surface. He would answer fact based questions, usually one word answers. He‘d never give his opinion, tell you about him self or have any real back and forth conversation. No matter how hard we tried we just couldn't get him to do it.

We knew he could learn. We knew his was smart. He did well on tests and school work, you’d only show him how to do a new task once or twice and he‘d pick it up.

BUT WE HAD NO IDEA HOW SMART HE REALLY IS....
